Hi Everyone,
Day 2 of the walk is complete. Although it was a lot less walking (more on that later), it was harder than yesterday.
The weather was foggy and a bit rainy at first, then cloudy and extremely humid. So we had to break out the rain jackets for the early part of the day. Also, the ground was slippery and I found that I had to catch myself every once in a while.
What’s more, the first 2 days have given me 2 blisters. Before training for this walk, I’d never gotten even a single one. I’ve learned pretty fast that they hurt a lot. Thankfully, doctor mom has foot remedies to make the pain more tolerable.
Ok, now to the part of why the walk was shorter today. Yesterday, after we stopped for the day, mom was looking over the overnight reservation for today. While I was resting, I heard her gasp, “OH NO, I’M GOING TO HAVE A HEART ATTACK!”
It turns out that she canceled the wrong reservation, and so, our walk could’ve been messed up. However, she quickly figured out an alternative plan, which had us walking “only” 15 miles today. Tomorrow, as a result, will be longer than it is on the original plan. After that, everything should stay the same. So, not the end of the world.
This morning I found 10 euros in the middle of the street. I was shocked. I’m keeping this money handy because I know I’ll be able to use it on the perfect thing that’s waiting for me. Is this a little gift from dad? I’m choosing to think that it is.
It’s already been an extremely long and eventful first 2 days, but I’m loving it. I can’t wait to see and share everything that’s yet to come!
Until tomorrow.
P.S. There’s a new article about my “200 Miles Closer to Dad” in The Examiner that came out today! Feel free to check it out: https://www.theexaminernews.com/chappaqua-family-starts-200-mile-walk-in-memory-of-husband-father/
